Antique Warehouse Lofts
Adaptive Reuse | San Antonio, Texas | 10,300 sf
BACKGROUND:
The Antique Warehouse project in San Antonio involved the thoughtful renovation of a historic building, transforming the second floor into eight unique loft apartments. The design preserved the building’s character while introducing modern elements, including the removal of the existing ceiling to create expansive, open spaces. A sleeping loft area was added to further open up the design, offering both a functional and visually dynamic layout.
On the first floor, the building was renovated into a commercial space with a restored, historically accurate storefront that reflects the building's original charm. Throughout the lofts, exposed brick walls highlight the building’s history, while new wood windows and a custom metal and wood staircase add contemporary touches. A new metal roof was installed to ensure the building’s longevity and to meet historic approval requirements.
The project also featured locally fabricated railings and design elements, reinforcing the connection to San Antonio’s craftsmanship. This renovation balances modern living with historic preservation, creating vibrant, functional spaces that honor the building’s legacy while providing stylish urban living.
